Considerations
Considerations when using a cLMA include:
- Careful case selection and excellent technique improves cLMA
performance and safety, and will reduce complications
- Insertion of the cLMA is a simple technique, but requires
considerable attention to detail
- Use of the cLMA is contraindicated in patients with identified risk
of regurgitation
- Use of the cLMA during positive pressure ventilation is widespread,
but not universally approved of. The ProSeal LMA is a more effective
alternative
