The key to successful insertion of the cLMA is good preparation.

The cLMA should be fully deflated before insertion. This creates a 'sharp' tip, which increases the likelihood of smooth passage and correct positioning.

The posterior surface of the cLMA is lubricated with a water-soluble lubricant. It is not necessary, or desirable, to lubricate the anterior surface.
