2. Advance cLMA

The dominant hand advances the cLMA, pushing upwards and backwards (onto the hard palate, then soft palate and posterior pharyngeal wall) until the cLMA comes to a halt.

The non-dominant hand simply maintains the head and neck position.

Ensure the cLMA tip does not fold backwards shortly after insertion.

All the 'trouble points' during insertion (tongue and epiglottis) lie inferiorly and anteriorly. Advance the cLMA away from them.

It is helpful if an assistant applies jaw thrust during the procedure to increase posterior pharyngeal space.
