Inflate the cLMA cuff. Take care not to overinflate the cuff, as this may lead to a poorer seal, which increases the risk of pharyngolaryngeal and nerve injuries.
Intracuff pressures should be routinely monitored to ensure they do not exceed 60 cmH2O. The 'recommended' volumes of air (printed on the tube side) are in fact maxima, and if a pressure monitor is not available, it is wise to start with half that volume.
When using nitrous oxide as part of the anaesthetic, cuff pressure rises for approximately 20-30 min as nitrous oxide diffuses to equilibrium. Therefore, the cuff pressure should be rechecked at this time.
