  • Ketamine may cause apnoeas in neonates
  • The effects of ketamine may be unpredictable in children with developmental delay

Relative contraindications to ketamine also include:

  • Absence of appropriate equipment or trained personnel
  • Hypertension
  • Stroke
  • Head trauma
  • Acute porphyria
