By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Explain the importance of a preoperative assessment in obstetrics
- Determine the timing of preoperative assessment
- Describe what needs to be covered in the preoperative assessment
This tutorial is intended for use by anaesthetists.
It should be read in conjunction with the other nine tutorials within the e-SAFE 08 Obstetrics module and the session 03_01 Prediction of difficult airway.
All patients who are due to have an anaesthetic should be seen and assessed by an anaesthetist prior to induction of anaesthesia.
