Question:
Who is responsible for the patient you have just brought through to recovery? The surgeon? The anaesthetist? The recovery staff?
Answer:
In recovery, the responsibility for the welfare of the anaesthetized patient lies with the anaesthetist; he or she, or another appropriately trained anaesthetist must be immediately available in case of a problem.
You may (and will) delegate the care of the anaesthetized patient to a suitably qualified healthcare professional in the recovery area.
