Airway

Describe the type of airway used intra-operatively. i.e., endotracheal tube, laryngeal mask, oral airway or facemask ventilation. The recovery staff need to be informed of any present, past and potential airway issues. For example, a patient whose airway was difficult to maintain with facemask ventilation, even with an oropharyngeal airway in situ, may continue to be problematic in recovery. Mention any intra-operative airway problems, such as difficult intubation, dental damage. Finally, point out the current airway status of the patient.
