Supplies of disposable equipment and drugs should be managed as for any ward.
Stocks should be checked and re-ordered weekly.
Stock should be replenished before the last item is used. It is everyone's responsibility to report if supplies are low.
There should be enough items to allow proper cleaning and sterilization of reusable items.
Ideally supplies should be sufficient to manage the initial stages of a mass casualty incident, outbreak of infectious disease, or an interruption in supplies.
Single-use, disposable items should not be re-used, e.g. syringes, giving sets, suction catheters.
