It is useful to have two trolleys (carts) for airway equipment for adults:

• Routine Airway Equipment Trolley
• Difficult Intubation Trolley

Each operating theatre or emergency department should have its own routine airway trolley.

In a small hospital, one difficult intubation trolley will be adequate for several operating theatres and the emergency department, but larger hospitals may require more than one.

Alternatively, have two shelves in your operating theatre used only for airway equipment.

If you anaesthetize children, you require a trolley for paediatric airway equipment, too. Paediatric airway equipment is not covered in this session.
