Causes and Treatment

Acute bronchospasm usually occurs at, or shortly after induction of, anaesthesia and is most common in asthmatics, those with atopy, smokers, and those who have had drugs that release histamine. It may be part of anaphylaxis, but this usually involves severe hypotension and cutaneous signs.
